Our aim is to make your treatment and care as relaxing and comfortable as possible. If you are a patient or prospective patient we hope this guide will inform you of how our surgery works and what we do to ensure that you receive the highest possible standards of care throughout your stay.

Summary of Statement of Purpose

Mornington Dental Surgery / MBDental provides NHS & Private dental care. We provide a range of treatment which will help you maintain your oral health.
The managers and staff at Mornington Dental Surgery / MBDental are dedicated to providing the highest possible level of care to patients. As such, we are committed to achieving and maintaining full compliance with the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated activities) Regulations 2009 and the Care Quality Commissions (Registration) Regulations 2009

Appointments & Emergencies

You can book an appointment by phone / email or online. In case of an emergency, please contact us as early as possible and we will try to offer you an appointment on the same day.
It is important that you arrive to your appointment on time, as late arrivals cause delays and may result in refusal of further appointments.
When cancelling or re-arranging your appointment please provide a minimum of 48 hours’ notice. Failure to do so may result in the refusal of NHS services. For private appointments a fee may apply.

Fees/Payments & Charges

For administration purposes, we request all payments relating to NHS charges in advance of treatment. Please note that private treatments will require a deposit.

If you think you are exempt from dental charges, it is your responsibility to bring VALID, up-to-date proof on the day of your appointment. Otherwise NHS charges will apply.

Protecting the Privacy & Dignity of Patients

Mornington Dental Surgery / MBDental is committed to protecting your privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times. We have in place some of the following measures:

  • Consultations are conducted in a private room

  • You may be chaperoned

  • We will only share information with your permission

  • We will involve you in the treatment process

  • You have the right to refuse or accept treatment

  • We will store your records in line with The Data Protection Act 1978

Standard form of contract

You have the right to accept or refuse any treatment offered; we will only proceed, agreed by you after a consultation has taken place.
Your dentist, after examination, will provide you with a treatment plan that outlines his/her recommendations.
He/she will discuss the treatment options with you making sure that you feel involved in the decision process.
You have the right to refuse/decline/alter your treatment.

Quality Assurance at Mornington Dental Surgery / MBDental

We take our responsibilities as dental professionals very seriously and all members of staff are qualified and trained in the performance of their duties.
Staff training is reviewed at least annually and we actively encourage staff to update their skills and knowledge to ensure that we can provide you with the most up to date advances in dental health and oral hygiene.

Facilities for patients with disabilities

We provide services in such a way that all patients have access to our facilities including those with physical/learning difficulties.
We have step free access and all surgeries are available on the ground floor. For patients with learning difficulties every effort is made to ensure effective communication. Interpreting services are available.

Mornington Dental Surgery / MBDental is committed to protecting patients and staff from any form of discrimination and will not tolerate discrimination of any form.

Facilities for children & vulnerable adults

As dental professionals we have a responsibility to ensure the safety of any child or adult who visits our surgery. If we suspect that any child or adult visiting our premises has been harmed or is at risk of harm we will report our concerns to the local safeguarding body for further investigation.

Resuscitation Policy

Mornington Dental Surgery / MBDental is prepared in the unlikely event of a medical emergency. All of our staff are highly trained and qualified to deal with medical emergencies.

Infection Control at MBDental

As a surgery we take infection control very seriously. All of our treatment rooms are designed to the highest standard to ensure that contamination risks are minimised.All our staff are highly trained and experienced in the area of infection control and this skill is updated.

We value your comments and suggestions and we carry out routine surveys.If you have any questions, comments or views about the information printed in this Guide , any other literature we supply, or the way we run our service please speak to a member of the team here at the Surgery.

Accessing your records

Under the Data Protection Act 1978 you have the right to access your records. Mornington Dental Surgery / MBDental fully supports this legislation and will endeavour to supply copies of patient’s records within a reasonable timescale upon written request. This will be subject to an administration charge of £10..
